New Jersey, New York, Seattle
Hozaifa represents corporate and individual clients in complex business disputes in state and federal courts and arbitration forums across the New Jersey-New York corridor and the Pacific Northwest (Seattle).
With training in Big Law and as a federal district court law clerk — and experience as a special deputy prosecutor and in-house general counsel — Hozaifa brings versatility, tenacious advocacy, and pragmatic counsel to each engagement.
In litigation, Hozaifa has successfully represented clients through judgment, verdict, and appeal in a broad range of commercial disputes. He is nimble navigating contentious business divorces, corporate dissolutions, and shareholder / partnership disputes, along with the wide-ranging issues that often underlie them — contract, fiduciary duties, intellectual property, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, accounting, receivership, and employment. Hozaifa also has significant experience litigating unfair competition, consumer protection, and defamation claims, as well as a growing professional liability practice. Given the bi-coastal nature of his practice, Hozaifa is frequently called upon to serve as local counsel in the courts of New Jersey and Washington State.
Outside of litigation, Hozaifa serves as a strategic advisor to emerging businesses and family-owned companies, and executives and Boards rely on him to find innovative ways to help manage risk and meet objectives.
Hozaifa has served as a Fellow of the WSBA’s Washington Leadership Institute, which recognizes and trains the next generation of civic and bar leaders. He devotes significant time to public interest matters and pro bono work, which has included serving as amicus counsel in high-profile education funding and capital gains tax cases before the Washington State Supreme Court. Among other community service, he currently serves as an Executive Board Member of the South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey.
Before joining Bailey Duquette, Hozaifa practiced at the Seattle office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP and at litigation boutiques on both coasts. Hozaifa’s background also includes tracking trials for Courtroom Television (Court TV) and producing for the Law & Crime Network.
In law school, Hozaifa served as the Note & Comment Editor of the Law Review. He was inducted into the National Order of Barristers for oral advocacy and, upon graduation, named his class’s Faculty Scholar and Student Speaker.
Hozaifa has been named a 2024 NJBiz Leader in the Law Honoree as well as a Thomson Reuters “Super Lawyer” (2019-2024) and "Rising Star" (2014-2018) for business litigation.
