Laura L. Dunn is an experienced trial attorney and accomplished litigator. As a member of the litigation practice at Bailey Duquette P.C., Laura focuses her expertise on providing clients with strategic advice and level-headed counsel in matters before state and federal courts.
In addition to commercial and business law background, Laura is a nationally recognized civil and victim rights attorney as well as a social entrepreneur whose work has been featured in Forbes, Buzzfeed, the National Law Journal, and many other media outlets. She also is a published legal scholar who previously taught at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. She has served as a liaison to the American Law Institute (ALI) Model Penal Code on Sexual Assault and Student Sexual Misconduct Project and is a previously appointed member to the American Bar Association (ABA) Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence (2016-2019) and Criminal Justice Section Task Force on College Due Process and Victim Protection (2017).
Laura serves as an expert witness and consultant on high-profile Title IX and campus sexual assault cases, such as the Lauren McCluskey and Jerry Sandusky lawsuits. Laura has trained countless campus community members, advocates, and attorneys through prominent institutions and organizations, including the Federal Bar Association, the National Association of Women Judges, the College Republican National Committee, the Democratic Attorneys General Association, the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, Harvard Law, Stanford University, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Texas Municipal Police Association, and the Arkansas Bar Association.
While a student at Maryland Law, Laura contributed to Obama-era Title IX guidance issued by the U.S. Department of Education and served on its 2014 rule-making committee to develop regulations for the Clery Act’s amendments under Section 304 of the 2013 Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (“VAWA”). For this national advocacy, Laura was publicly recognized by then-Vice President Joe Biden as well as then-Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy on the Senate floor.
Upon graduation from law school in 2014, Laura founded the national nonprofit SurvJustice, which received the 2017 AAUW Eleanor Roosevelt Fund Award. For her ongoing advocacy to increase the prospect of justice for survivors of campus sexual violence by holding perpetrators and enablers accountable, Laura has received several awards and recognition, including the 2015 Echoing Green Global Fellowship, the 2016 Benjamin Cardin Public Service Award, the 2017 Special Courage Award from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime, a 2018 TED Fellowship, 2019 Leading Women Award from The Daily Record, and the 2019 Top 40 under 40 for the National Trial Lawyers, among other awards and recognitions.
In 2019, Laura founded L.L. Dunn Law Firm, PLLC, a national law practice focused on Title IX and campus sexual assault cases. In 2024, she sold this practice to C.A. Goldberg, PLLC. In 2025, she joined Bailey Duquette P.C. with an expanded practice focused on a variety of litigation topics, as well as commercial and business law.
